Rich Mullins' Death
Richard Wayne Mullins crossed the Jordan on Sept. 19, 1997, far too soon for the rest of us. He was just shy of his 42nd birthday. His Jeep flipped on I-39 South as he and his friend Mitch McViker were traveling to Bloomington, Il. to perform at a benefit concert.
Public records state:
Neither occupant of the jeep was wearing seat belts.
The reason for the loss of control of the vehicle was undetermined.
No excessive speed or mechanical failure contributed to the crash.
Alcohol or illegal narcotics were not a factor.
